Installing 7.2 on Elonex Lumina (Cyrix processor)

Hi All,
As a way of getting into Linux I have been trying to install Red Hat Linux onto an older, but still working OK, Elonex Lumina machine. Its got a Cyrix GX 166 processor in it.

No matter what install route I take, (graphical, lowres, text, expert), the install freezes at a line which says

Checking hlt instruction OK

and I have to hard reboot.

I have tried disabling all the caches I can via the bios settings, (someone at work suggested this one), but I still get the same error.

Does anyone know a workaround/fix for this?. I would really like to get Linux installed and this is driving me mad. (I have searched all over the internet but I cant seem to find the answer). Hope someone can help.

thanks,
regards,
Gary
