Installation on VIA embedded EPIA Pico ITX

The Pico-ITX is a small form factor mother board, i have a 16gb CF hard drive and 4 USB ports.

I am attempting to install RHEL4 on the computer.

I'm completely and utterly lost.

I tried copying the CD to the USB and booting it like that, but it just looks at me and i look blankly back at it.

I think what would be best is if I could boot it using a USB and then load everything from the CF hard drive, but I'm completely lost on how to actually do that.

I thought I would need the bootdisk.img but i'm on a windows machine and so i don't know how to dd that to the USB.

Thanks,

update

With some help from previous computers (and now dismantled) I was able to create a USB cd rom drive. Which I plugged into the computer, and put the first installation disk in. Now I get the message
"NTDLR missing
Press any key to restart"
which means that the device it's trying to boot from isn't booting correctly.

I've been reading some on the forums, and do I need to make a special boot cd before I place the first installation cd in?

if so, how should I make it on a windows machine.

Thanks,

Thanks

thanks for all the help? you guys have been absolutely valueless :P

o well i understand, let the noob learn on his own. Anywayz I discovered why it wasn't working. The cdrom drive has a homemade-ish usb converter board on it and that wasn't receiving any power.
