Install Firefox on RHEL 4

I can't update it automatically and yum was not installed yet.

I got package from:

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

It is version 3.6. I also seen version 10.0

However, they are already compiled files. I don't know what to do with them?

Any suggestions?

You mean you cannot install it using yum or yum is not installed yet?

I suggest that you untar the downloaded installation file to, say, /opt. Create a symbolic link of firefox executable to /usr/local/bin or /usr/bin. You should then be able to launch firefox normally. Hope this helps.

i am not even sure that firefox 10 will run on the old RHEL4 and almost DEAD RHEL4.

as to yum
RHEL 4 did not ship with yum ( was not invented yet)
use "up2date"

is there a MUST USE application built for 4 that CAN NOT be ported to the Current RHEL6.2
if not then WHY the near end of life RHEL4

red hat just added 3 years of EXTENDED support to 4 .
A week before RHEL4 was to hit END OF LIFE ( R.I.P.)
and you WILL have to pay a boatload of cash to red hat for the rhel4 EXTENDED support
