Unhappy input/output dev/hda error

Hi everyone I hope somone can help. Here is my question: my Husband is trying to put redhat 9 on my computer, He has it on 3 disks. We start the installation, and when it gets to where you put your mouse type in, He does that, and then this error comes up that says, input/output dev/hda error, what does this mean and how do We fix it? thank You

Thank You PhD for Your response. My Husband figured that might be the problem, so I guess we're going to have to get a new drive. My computers ancient anyways... lol Thanks again
