How to remove nis domain ???

Dear all,

I successfully configured nis server/client in a network.

Now I want want to remove the nis domain and configure a new nis domain in same server. But, it is not working. I removed ypserv and related files with yum, reinstalled but still it tries to bind to old domain, when I run ypinit.

Any clues ??

Bye

first of all, removing the server and files is a bit extreme merely re-configuring the server should do, but did you tell the CLIENTS about the change?

Smile Got it after all

Thanks all for replying.

But no tutorial or book tells how to remove NIS server and reconfigure.

I figured out
1. Remove nis domain name from /etc/sysconfig/network
2. yum remove ypserv
3. yum purge ypserv
4. rm -rf /var/yp
5. yum install ypserv

and the usual
Earlier I was missing step 4
Bye
