How to remove "domain\" from UserID and GroupID using Active Directory.
First, let me say that Active Directory is setup and working with all of our internal servers.
However, when we login to any of our Linux servers, the UserID and GroupID's are displaying the short domain name as a pre-fix to the local UserID and GroupID.
Here's an example:
Domain Name: DOM.com
Filesystem ownership:
cd /home
ls -l
-rw-r--r-- 2 DOM\userID DOM\group name 195 Sep 27 16:22 TestFile
When attempting to run scripts against such an ID, you can not easily parse out the special characters or blank spaces.
Can anyone tell me how to remove the "DOM" in this case?
I want to see UserID and GroupID, I do not want to see DOM\UserID and DOM\GroupID.
I found this command in another thread, but by itself, it does not seem to make any difference:
authconfig --enablewinbindusedefaultdomain --update
It runs without any errors, and it restarts the WinBind process, but the UserID and GroupID do not change.
The "DOM" prefix is still here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
