You don't have the file, which appears to be for a different distribution (Mandriva?). You want to install from the CentOS repository, but by specifying the specific release (and wrong distribution), a match cannot be found. What you want to do is:
Code:
yum install samba
You either need to install the distribution to match your study guide, or use the CentOS documentation.

hi Macemoneta, thank you for your answer, yes your answer worked nice.

but a question, how can i find out what should i write instead of the name of the packages mentioned all over the book. i mean for example in that book (wily/sybex LPIC-1 ) it has written :

samba-server-3.0.25b-4.5mdv2008.0.x86_64.rpm

but you guide me to write "samba" instead of samba-server-3.0.25b-4.5mdv2008.0.x86_64.rpm

so what about other packages ?

thanks in advance
( Sorry to ask such simple questions , i know my questions are probably very simple to ask here )

You can use 'yum search' and 'yum info' to find the correct package names. Use the 'man yum' command for details. The CentOS documentation also lists their packages.
