hi.. my mobo crashed recently. b4 everything worked good but then after mobo crash i no have no gui!!pain in the butt. new gfx card is onboard type. the old card was fine but this new 1...when X starts the screen turns blank and a "please check connection "screen appears. help. it is as if the monitor has been unplugged..tried knoppix...same thing. Console(as in ctrl+alt+f1) works fine but thats gfx card is a S3 prosavageDDR..which appears in DMESG..

I plan on getting a new AGP gfx card anyway(n-vidia type)..but would appreciate any suggestions...will new card be picked up?? do i have to change driver ?? will generic driver (vesa..vga ) work with current setup??? how do i change it??
any help would be great! as i had almost completely canned windows(used it only for work) and had started to use RH 4 everything! now it gone, boo hoo1

If you tried it in Knoppix and had the same problem, I really don't think it is an OS-specific problem. Do you have any other operating systems you could try on this computer to test?
