SOLVED! how do I resize the root "/" filesystem under LVM

I have installed FC8 (Fedora Core 8) and using Logical Volume Manager (LVM).

Three Physical Volumes are mapped to a single Logical Volume Group.

Logical volumes have been defined for: /home /tmp /var /usr and of course the root "/" filesystem.

/boot is a physical volume so that the system can be booted.

How do I resize the root fs?? The GUI LVM tool complains (naturally) that / is busy and cannot be unmounted for the resize.

p.s. Is it okay for me to post FC issues in the RedHat section of LQ - I cannot see a specific FC area.

Use a liveCD that supports LVM - Knoppix does.

Is it really that easy?? I only came across the LVM concept and tools yesterday so it really is new territory for me.

Well, if it is that simple I might as well boot from the FC8 LiveCD that I used to install the O/S.

There is a Fedora option under distributions btw - not that it matters a whole lot for a question like this

Cheers
