How do I mount my thumb drive on my Linux?


Hi all,

How do I mount my thumb drive on my Linux? I am using Red Hat..

assuming it is plugged into what your computer assigns the first usa port as

mkdir /mnt/usbdrive
mount -t vfat /dev/sda /mnt/usbdrive

once you plug the usb drive in, type dmesg and look through the last 5 lines to see if you can find out which device the usb was assigned to. It will be an sd_ and you have to fill in that blank with the correct letter.
