How Do I Configure My Sound Card?
I recently installed RedHat, and my sound doesnt work. When I go to System Settings -> Sound Card Detection, it shows me the sound card. I have an onbord sound card. I don't think what it shows it right, cauz no sound works. Is there a way to select the type of sound card that I have?

Under services I see stuff like "anacron, cups, daytime, etc.. etc..". How do I know which one is the sound demon? It dosent say anything that sounds like sound.

Alright. Forget about what I asked. Now I know why red hat sucks.
All the programs runs like in a p166. This is p4 with 512MB ram.
Random lockups in programs. Mozilla crashes often. Sometimes when I click on K button, it takes about 20 seconds for the menu to pop up. This happens randomly and goes back to normal after a while.
There are about 50 screensavers and more than 2/3 of them dosen't work.
I know this sounds like windows. But this is me with red hat 9.
Most importantly, there is a program that I want to use and it require sound. When I launch the program it says that I dont have sound and closes. I dont have time to go through manuels to do such a simple task. I need the program today, that's why I asked it here.
I'm going back to Mandrake. This time mandrake 10, untill I finish my project. After that i'll have some free time, so I can install Slack.
I fell in love with Slackware the first time I used it and this was just last week. I use to be a Red Hat user and it basically put me off Linux, but before that I used Mandy and I thought it was pretty good.

true enough, because since the day that I installed redhat, i'm using windblowz. Don't feel like installing mdk 9.2 again. Just waiting for some free time to give slack a try.
I am also having trouble getting my sound to work. Im using Debian Woody. When I boot up I get an error that states my sound daemon will not start properly.
Its onboard sound on a Sony Vaio Laptop.
