How can I format my hard drive within Red Hat 9?
Hey all
How do I totally erase EVERYTHING (all partitions) on my hard disk using Red Hat Linux 9? I managed to kill my windows installation when I attempted a dual-boot and want to wipe the slate clean again. If it's not possible to erase everything, how do I erase individual partitions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
You can erase the entire drive with:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda Assuming it is hda you want to erase. You could also just remove the partitions with fdisk, recreate them and put a filesystem on them. That should be a little quicker and easier. |
u can use cfdisk and manully erase ...
