how 2 access my ntfs partition

hi guys!!

let me tell u guys that i am new to linux . Anyway , i am trying to access my windows pration from my newly installed redhat enterprise destop 4 . I even added a entry to fstab , by editing the file from vi editor .... any help is deeply appreciated .

You won't be able to write to your ntfs without compiling the kernel (2.6 +) with support for that. Even so, it's known to be dangerous to write into a NTFS from Linux. If you just need to read from that partition (say, you've got plenty of mp3's on that partition) then you are fine...

Please, post your /etc/fstab in here. An example of mounting a NTFS/read-only would be:

/dev/hda1 /mnt/win_c ntfs users,owner,ro,umask=000 0 0

i tried ur suggession but i get a error message saying " fs ntfs not supported by kernel" . so b4 i make the necessary entry to fstab , do i need to recompile the kernel to read my ntfs partion.

Red Hat does not support ntfs right out of the box. Visit and follow their instructions. As Megaman mentioned you will only get read only access.
