I work in a company and we have a problem with the tape drive.We can not insert a new tape.We tried with mt -f /dev/st0 status and we had a return message that the drive is offline.How can we face this problem?
Someone here told that there is a process that keeps the tape drive online.Was he right?
What type of tape drive is this? What software are you using to access this drive if any? Is is SCSI attached and if so, is it even recognized by the machine or OS?
Oh,most tape drive is scsi ,and you?I think you can push eject button on the font panel of tape drive;to control the statu of tape drive ,you could use the software which together with the tape drive ,or third party storage management software!
