Sorry for disturbing all of you.

Squirrel Mail is a pretty straightforward install, but you need all the other components that it connects with. It is a php web application. So, you need to be running Apache and php within apache. You put the squirrelmail distribution in the web tree. Then there is a configuration script you run that is perl that sets up the config file. Before you do that, however . . .

Squirrel Mail is a mail client. Not a mail server. You connect to it via the web. It takes your login and connects over localhost to the mail server on your server. So, you need the appropriate mail server set up.

I would first make sure all your mail services are working. Test with the usual clients (Thunderbird, Eudora, whatever). Make sure you can connect with imap as well.

Then test your web and php stuff. Only when you know all that is working, jump into squirrel mail.
