grep a word from some files???


Hi,

I have 80 files and I am editioing them, now problem is that I want to look for some word within these files. suppose I want to look for a word called "allows" where this word is in these files. what will be the quick command for it.

okay brother no problem this is the sloution I was looking for a word "Allow" within some 80 files, and the command was.
the files were having extension of .dm

grep allow *.dm

hope it helps some one.
