GCC problems

I recently procured a new virtual server. It is running Virtuosso, Plesk and RedHat 9. When I went to install Mailing list software I discovered there was not gcc installed. I got a precompiled binary from Thewrittenword.com
Installed that with no problem. The installation directory is /opt/TWWswf
I set the Path using export PATH=$PATH:/opt/TWWfsw/bin/gcc

Still when I attempt to compile anything I get command not found for gcc. What am I doing wrong? Did I miss a step?

Tells me that gcc isn't installed. If I do whereis gcc I get gcc: /usr/lib/gcc /opt/TWWfsw/bin/gcc
If I try to install the package again it says it is already installed. Bleah

The only place I have found the one I need is thewrittenword.com (gcc-3.3.2.rpm4.tar.Z)
I followed the install instructions:

compress -d gcc-3.3.2.rpm4.tar.Z
tar xf gcc-3.3.2.rpm4.tar
rpm -iv TWWgcc332-librun-3.3.2-4.i386.rpm
rpm -iv TWWgcc332-3.3.2-4.i386.rpm
rpm -iv TWWgcc332-man-3.3.2-4.i386.rpm
rpm -iv TWWgcc332-doc-3.3.2-4.i386.rpm

This is as far as the install instructions go. I figured it needed to be in the path as well so I did
export PATH=$PATH:/opt/TWWfsw/bin/gcc

Was/is there something more I need to do?
