gaim SSL support
I searched and read the message that i found but none of them helped.
I'm trying to give SSL support to gaim. I have mozilla 1.7.5 and firefox 1.0.6 I installed the package nss-3.9.2.tar.gz to a ddirectory but it didnt work. I changed the directory to where i installed mozilla. again didnt work. I decided to add the path where firefox is installed to /etc/ld.so.conf but it didnt work either. what should I do to sign in to MSN ? When I "./configure" gaim I get like this at the end. gaim 1.4.0 Build Protocol Plugins........ : yes Protocols to link statically.. : Protocols to build dynamically : gg irc jabber msn napster novell oscar yahoo zephyr UI Library.................... : GTK 2.x SSL Library/Libraries......... : None Build with Plugin support..... : yes Build with Perl support....... : yes Build with Tcl support........ : yes Build with Tk support......... : yes Build with Audio support...... : no Build with NAS support........ : no Build with GtkSpell support... : no Use kerberos 4 with zephyr.... : no Use external libzephyr........ : no Use XScreenSaver Extension.... : yes Use X Session Management...... : yes Use startup notification.......: no Print debugging messages...... : no Gaim will be installed in /usr/local/bin. Warning: You have an old copy of gaim at /usr/local/bin/gaim. configure complete, now type 'make' [root@localhost gaim-1.4.0]# |
you installed nss "to a directory" ? what does that mean?? you need to install the whole package properly. personally i'd suggest you just installed the rpm's in each case, i'm sure gaim are still making rh9 compatible rpms.
i was just trying to say that I started to install nss where I downloaded it. and copied it to a directory of mozilla.and tried to install under the directory of mozilla again but it has never worked .
you can't just copy it to somewhere, it needs a full correct installation just like any other package.
im saying that i copied package.anyways.
can anybody tell me how to provide ssl support for gaim step by step ? |
erm yeah.. again you "copied" the package? you need to install nss properly. what else are you expecting people to say? Like I mentioed above, if you can find a suitable rpm for nss (and afaik nspr will follow) for redhat 9.0 then use that, otherwise install from source.
as you see I installed the nss and I get this message (please pay attention to red line) while I am trying to configure gaim. I am asking where is the problem .
please pay attention? that red line says you do not ahve it installed... you have still not proved in any way that you have nss or any other required package installed. the closest you've got is saying you've copied the package to the directory, which is NOT installing...
