fuse-ntfs-3g causing problems for SAS RAID?

Hi Folks,

I've had all kinds of trouble with the SAS RAID on what I thought would be a really great Supermicro server (see this thread): https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?t=652651. When it works it is a nice box.

As per the above thread, I did have it working. Then I did a bunch of updates to Red Hat stuff (not as careful as I should have been obviously), and I installed the fuse and fuse-ntsf-3g packages (from the Dag RPM repository as per this thread https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?t=660853 ).

After these updates/installs, the %$#@! RAID devices are invisible to the OS again!

I removed the fuse and fuse-ntfs-3g packages, but that didn't resolve it. So now I'm stuck with a machine w/ only half its memories again (and all the stuff from my Postgres DBs is gone!).

Here's what lspci reports about the SCSI controller:
02:00.0 SCSI storage controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 8208ELP/8208ELP (rev 04)
Here's what Supermicro says the device is:
LSI SAS1068E Controller
Anyone know anything about whether the fuse/ntfs stuff might be the culprit or whether these recent updates from Red Hat (the kernel? one of the lib* updates?) might have been a problem (see list below)? (Note the removal of the fuse/ntfs goo and the attempt to install [yet again] the mptlinux package from LSI--which may never work as the OS seems to think the device in question is not what the MB Supermicro says it is.)

Any suggestions other than to reinstall and go back to what worked?

John

Filesystem drivers (being ntfs-3g or whatever) have nothing to do with the problem. It's either kernel, device driver, or a setup/configuration problem. System updates do mess up things sometimes.

I've opened a ticket w/ RedHat. If I get a solution, I'll post it.
