frozen grub on xp/rh9 dual boot

This pc has been dual booting xp/rh9 for over a year with no problems. Now when booting to rh9 I get a "frozen" grub prompt. I can't boot from my linux boot diskette for some reason, and there have been no changes made to the system, it just started doing this. XP boots fine.

I even restored my linux partitions from a stable backup and same deal. Also restored xp to a previous state. I also recreated the linux.bin file used for dual booting (grub is installed on the /boot partition, not the mbr). Also when I try and check the root partition from xp using Partitionmagic I get an access violation that I don't get when checking any of the other partitions for errors.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Call it a deja-vu feeling but do a memtest to your machine. I am sniffing a mem module dying...

Fixed the problem. Used my rh9 cd's to perform an upgrade, which didn't go because nothing needed upgrading, but created a new boot diskette at the end of the process. Was able to use that boot diskette to boot linux, then reinstalled grub from within linux, created my linux.bin file for windows xp to dual boot, and everything went fine. No idea what went wrong.

Ok cool. I'd rather want to do a dual boot between Linux and MacOSX tiger 10.4. I've heard you can bung it in your VMWare as well. Apple wasn't happy when some guys started displaying video's on how to do it. but heck they wanted to join the Intel Revolution for soem very *good* reason.
