same problem was there on my old pc but it was with java plugin, i was using firefox didnt understand till now why that happened. 1 thing i want you to check is whether the plugin is installed correctly in the plugin folder of ur browser, on how to check it goto ur plugin directory of the browser(whichever u use) n make sure that a link to flash plugin exist.

When firefox crashes like this, is there a log file i can check to see the reason why firefox is crashing? Sometimes firefox crashes because of the flash plugin; it sometimes crashes, not very often though, for no apparent logical reason. So it would be nice to know where all these reports are being logged.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Start Firefox from a terminal window (open a console and type firefox). When it crashes, look at the meesages in the terminal and post them here.

If you are using old distros such as RH9, flash 7 will probably work fine, but flash 9 may cause Firefox to crash due to the fact that now flash for Linux uses alsa by default which was not the default sound system in older Linux releases. This problem happens on BSD as well, because the BSDs use OSS.
