fixing bugs

i wanna know the best approach to bug fixing.i have been given a bug to be fixed.i wanna know how to start with it.wat is actually expected and how far i can fix it as iam a newbie

what kind of bug, do you know how to program?

i know my amsn client used to do silly things (like change the "my recieved folder") so i opened up the source and had a fiddle. and now its fine

is this the kind of thing your talking about?
