Firewire support in RHEL 4???

I performed a clean install of RHEL 4 AS today and I can't get my system to recognize my external firewire drive. The firewire card is seen (as verified by hardware browser and lspci).

I was able to get my firewire drive to work in RHEL 3.4 using an rpm file from Dell's website, however this file will not install on 4 since it needs the kernel-source package, which is no longer included in 4.

Has anyone got their firewire drive to work w/o having to build a custom kernel? Thanks,
James
