firefox 1.5.0.10-0.1.el4 crashing on youtube and other flash websites

Dear Red Hat community,

I'm having a problem with my Red Hat v.4 (for 32-bit x86). I am not able to use youtube at all. Not only is there no sound on youtube, but Firefox crashes on youtube. It tries to play the video, but crashes after 2-4 seconds. In general, my Firefox crashes on flash sites, as does my Seamonkey.
I have the following version of firefox: firefox-1.5.0.10-0.1.el4 and the following version of flash: flash-plugin-9.0.31.0-release.

I have had this problem since updating from Firefox 9 to Firefox 10 about 10 days ago, by running the "up2date" agent on my RH account. I have been waiting for an update from RH to fix this problem, but no update has been sent. Does anyone have a solution to this?

Sincerely,
Jay

i had the same issue with firefox + flash.

seemed like a permissions issue. it worked when i used sudo.

maybe an strace will tell you exactly where/ why it is crashing.
