Finding Linux version
Other than the /etc/redhat-release , is there any other source to find out the update of the Kernel OS ??
I want to know, the Update number that is installed in my Linux OS.
I use a Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS2.1 and 3.0 .

'uname -a' or 'uname -r' to be precise. Unless you mean something RH specific. Not sure what you mean by 'Update number'.

I have got two Linux boxes. One is Linux 3.0 machine and other is 2.1 machine.
For 3.0 machine : -
I get the following information ---> Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 3 (Taroon Update 3)
For 2.1 machine:-
Here I get only -->Red Hat Linux Advanced Server release 2.1AS/i686 (Pensacola) .
I want to know which update it is .(Like 1,2 or something else)

Oh, I see. Oops. I don't know.
Maybe this should be moved to the Red Hat forum - you'd probably get a correct answer in a flash then.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
