file group permissions

Hi i would like to give multiple groups as owner of a file is it possible in linux?. You must be wondering why am doing so lol there ~160 users in 3 different groups and these 3 groups should have access to one file and others should not have access to this file, now making a new group n merge those 3 groups in one seems to be overhead for me (im lazy u may say that lol), so im trying for a shortcut way hehe. Your Help is appreciated

No.

You have groups red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple.
You want to grant access to red green and blue and deny the others.

The usual approach is to create a meta group, primary, and have the members of red green and blue also be members of primary.

The alternative would be to use access control lists.

But there is no lazy way forward.

ACL looks like the solution for you - it was designed for large systems and it is very scaleable. Once set up, it becomes very lazy indeed.
