Fedora Core Test 2; iptables; recent module; missing libipt_recent.so

When attempting to use the iptables recent module functionality in Fedora Core 2, I get an error message of "iptables v1.2.8: Couldn't load match `recent':/lib/iptables/libipt_recent.so:
cannot open shared object file". I've filed a bug report (#106002 at bugzilla.redhat.com). The ticket is still in the NEW status. Does anyone have suggestions on steps that I can/should take to add ipt_recent support while waiting for the issue to be resolved?

It's a netfilter extension which is not included within the official Linux kernel. The iptables manual doesn't cover this extension either. It isn't included with Red Hat Linux 9 and most likely not with older releases either.

The userspace extension is in the iptables package, but it gets built only if the kernel source is patched to support it.

Thanx, but the recent module is included with Fedora Core Test. It's just missing support files. To temporarily get around this problem, I deleted iptables, installed iptables w/ recent support from another distro, copied the missing files into a different directory, removed iptables, re-installed the original iptables, and copied the missing files into the appropriate directory. With that change, the recent module is working correctly. I've updated the original bug report accordingly.

Hmm, I must have missed the kernel module when I queried the kernel and kernel-source packages.

You could nominate your bug with a comment in the tracking bug #100644.

I'm short on time, but will look into it as well.
