exclusive lock on cd burning


have been trying to clear my cdrw's prior to burning but get "can't get exclusive lock" with cd cdrecord and gnometoaster.

Could someone explain why this is happening and how to sort it.

running rh9.

have you tried to log on as root before cleaning?

yup. no joy. am going to try blanking them under windows and see if i can just write to them under linux - maybe that will narrow it down a bit...
