Error resolving host name hrough transparent squid

Hello all!
I have squid 2.6 stable6 running in transparent mode on RHEL5. The squid is working as access.log has the entries of the client trying to browse through the proxy.
I can resolve the host names, ping and browse from the proxy. However, when I try to browse from the clients, the "unable to resolve host name" error appears. Interestingly, few times I am able to browse to google.com. The squid is configured with --enable-linux-netfilter option and squid.conf has "http_port 3128 transparent" and "http_port 80".
The nslookup at server shows:

nslookup www.yahoo.com
Server: 218.248.240.79
Address: 218.248.240.79#53

Non-authoritative answer:
www.yahoo.com canonical name = www.wa1.b.yahoo.com.
www.wa1.b.yahoo.com canonical name = www-real.wa1.b.yahoo.com.
Name: www-real.wa1.b.yahoo.com
Address: 69.147.76.15

However, at client nslookup gives:
C:\>nslookup www.google.com
DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.
*** Can't find server name for address 218.248.240.79: Timed out

*** Can't find server name for address 218.248.240.23: Timed out
*** Default servers are not available

Can someone pl. help me out! Thank you!!!
