editor saves duplicate file with tilde after it
I'm using redhat 9. When I edit a file in my text editor and save it a duplicate copy of it is created with a ~ after the file name. I've seen the option before to turn this off but have no idea where I saw it. Removing ~ files every time I edit is getting old. Your assistance would be highly appreciated.

What editor do you use?
Atleast in gedit (which I believe is the default in gnome) there is option for that in edit/preferences(settings?). |
Found it. Edit,Preferences then scroll to save. Uncheck box to make backup copy. Thanks
