Does RHEL6 have ia32-libs (or equivalent)?

Hi,

I recently upgraded my RHEL system from 5.5 to 6.0. When I went to install a 32-bit application I got the normal failure for missing 32-bit libs (/lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory). With RHEL5, simply installing ia32-libs takes care of this problem.

In this case, a "yum search ia32-libs" shows no such package exits. So either it doesn't exist or I've got a yum config problem (although I can pull x86_64 packages just fine). If it doesn't exist, is there an equivalent package?

Thanks,
Gordon

I don't have Red Hat running but I did look on the Red Hat support web pages. As I expected, the phrase "ia32-libs" refers to Intel Itanium Architecture.

The Red Hat web pages refer to having mixed 64 bit and 32 bit concurrently installed as "multilib".

Since I don't have Red Hat installed I cannot check the yum packages to see if any have the *multilib* format in the name. Nevertheless that seems to be a good direction for you to search.

Here is a web address that you may find helpful for this and future questions.

A bit late, but maybe will help someone run 32-bit apps on 64-bit RedHat, Cent, or Scientific Linux

Try this:

yum install xulrunner.i686

It installs a whole bunch of 32-bit libs that may make your app work.
