Do yum and up2date stay in sync?

OS: CentOS 4.6 (RHEL 4 AS)

If I update the system with yum, does up2date know the updates were installed... and vice versa??

The reason I ask is because I've been logging in remotely and keeping this long distance server updated using yum. Now I'm wondering if the results would be the same if I was using up2date instead of yum?!

Thanks in advance!

Both use RPM to do their work, so I would think it would be OK to use either, or even switch back-and-forth. I s'pose the only trouble might be if you had wildly different repositories setup in each.
