Disk quota on Centos 5.6, quota not working?
I have Centos 5.6 64-bit, here are the configuration of my server
************************************************************************
Command (m for help): p
Disk /dev/sda: 32.2 GB, 32212254720 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 3916 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 6 48163+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 7 515 4088542+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda3 516 3211 21655620 83 Linux
/dev/sda4 3212 3916 5662912+ 5 Extended
/dev/sda5 3212 3916 5662881 82 Linux swap / Solaris
***************************************************************************
/dev/sda2 is where /home is mounted to (I did not use lvm for this virtual server), the block size for sda2 is 4096, "ajmanning" is a user upon whom I want to impose quota, so here is the setup:
[root@localhost ~]# edquota ajmanning
Disk quotas for user ajmanning (uid 504):
Filesystem blocks soft hard inodes soft hard
/dev/sda3 56 1 2 7 1 2
~
so I have two questions: first, by reading this quota table, how many MB is actually assigned to "ajmaning"? second, when I try to copy lots of data (to see if I ever get stopped due to quota limit), and I was never stopped, actually I am able to copy 7GB unto /home/ajmanning/Desktopm, so quota is not working for me? Can someone explain this to me? Thanks!
