Deleting a previously configured partition scheme
I just began working through Michael Jang's RHCSA/RHCE 7 book and completed a minimal installation. However, I was supposed to select, "Server with GUI." I thought, no biggie. I'll just reinstall. However, I found I wasn't able to install over the installation I had just completed. Instead, RHEL 7 wanted to install another installation of RHEL7. When I tried to delete the previous installation from the GUI installer, that action was not "committed" and the previous partitioning scheme was still there. The reason this matters is because I was trying to create (per instructions) a /boot partition of 500 MiB. Since the prior partitions were still there, there wasn't enough space to create another /boot of 500 MiB.
I used CTRL ALT F2 to open a shell thinking I could run fdisk and delete the unwanted partitions. But it looks like there is no option to delete with this version of fdisk.
Question 1: How can I delete the prior partitioning scheme and "commit" it so that I can reinstall with my desired /boot of 500 MiB?
Question 2: I have downloaded the RHEL 7 DVD, mounted it and tried to install the requisite packages for the GUI, but I couldn't quite figure that out. Can someone point me to how to do that? Thanks!
