cups ipp problems
Hi to all,
I have a little bit problems about the cups printing in network (ipp) i get it works well but sometime it behaves abnamlly , such as priting the files from XP client as FFF and EEE or any digit whole page and as much as number of copies as the paper supplies.

any body solving this problems may reply me.

What does your error_log say? It may be in /var/log/cups. If it does not say much go to the cupsd.conf file (in /etc/cups) and set log level to debug (debug2 is too much).

Have you got an up to date version of ghostscript? What are the drivers - were you able to install the printer easily from the client?

o.k I have maintained the loglevel to debug2 and ghost script i have used in my Fedora core server is,
[root@gateway cups]# rpm -qa | grep ghost

the drivers i am using is the driver of the printer HP laster jet 1300 series which I can found.

I would suggest switching loglevel down to "debug" or even "info" so that we can see the bigger picture. I would then save a copy of the log and delete the content of the original to get everything nice and clear.

Restart the server and try to reproduce the error. You imply the error is intermittent which is going to be tricky.

My first guess is that the drivers are the issue. Did you install the printer from the CUPS web interface (http://localhost:631)? How did that go?

Things to try:

Reinstall the printer on the server.
Reinstall the printer on the client.

See what the log says.

Try to print something.

I am a SuSE user so I am unsure what the implications of Fedora Core are. I was not happy with the SuSE ghostscript implementation and my system works well with ESP Ghostscript: the CUPS people own implementation of ghostscript which is supposed to be strong on drivers. I am using 8.15.1. See what the log says, but it may be a way forward when you have tried other things first.

Good luck.

Sorry I have not been around for a while - too busy.

I don't know much about Active Directory, but I believe that it cannot be an Active Directory domain controller:

about ntfs write mount
can linux mount the ntfs as read write?

Again, not really my area of expertise. However, I have just finished building a new kernel (2.6.17) and I believe one of the options was for write access to NTFS. So maybe you can? Check out the new kernel.
