CentOS 5.2 network printing fails

Hi everyone. I installed CentOS 5.2 on a Compaq Presario laptop using net install. I've been unable to print from CentOS. I don't know if it is a network problem or a printer driver problem. I have an HP Laserjet 4L and an HP PSC2210 connected to a desktop computer running Debian Lenny with CUPS. I have Lenny /etc/cups/cupsd.conf configured to allow printing from the IP addresses of my three laptops, CentOS being one of the three. I can print to either printer from the other two laptops, one running Sidux and one running Debian Etch. I can also print from an XP partition on one laptop via Samba.

I can use ssh and scp between CentOS and Debian Lenny. I am using eth0 for the time being with the wireless card removed.

I can't print with iptables running or stopped.

The simplest printing test that fails is: %lpr -P printer filename
The /var/log/cups/ error log and access log on both machines show that the printing was successful. Error logging is set to 'debug'. However, the printer did not print. The printer status light does illuminate, indicating it has been awakened by the action.

The printer drivers used in CentOS are the foomatic drivers noted as 'recommended'. In Lenny, I use foomatic-gutenprint drivers but can't find them in the CentOS repositories. I've tried several other drivers in CentOS with no success. I've been working mainly with the Laserjet 4L since the PSC2210 has historically been more difficult to use in Linux.

Suggestions would be welcome.

Edit: The problem is with the CentOS drivers. The network is fine. I managed to get the PSC2210 inkjet printer to work with a Laserjet postscript driver.
