Cannot start kwin as window managar
 

When I start up redhat and put in "startkde" it gives me an error like "Looks like there is already a window manager running, Kwin not started" and says that Klipper is running, my windows are just these green borders that only have move/minimize functions. Anyone know how I can get kwin running?

Dunno whether that is the full story. What version of Red Hat Linux is that? Default installs would start either GNOME or KDE. You would switch with the switchdesk command or start your own custom X session from run-level 3. Maybe you started TWM. Examing the running processes should tell.
