cannot determine address family for xxx.xxx.com

I am trying to build a system using the RH satellite server. Today I got the following error when it tried to download the kickstart file.

This use to work up to 2 weeks ago. That was the last time I tried to build a system.

It tried to communicate with the satellite server and download the KS file but gets this

ERROR cannot determine address of hostname.mydomain.com
ERROR : we don't have a reverse DNS for IPv6 yet

The system I am trying to build is not DHCP but fixed IP

Also I see it referring to ipv6 but I am using ipv4 and hard coding that.

My fwd and reverse looks up for DNS all work as expected. I have tried on 2 different subnets and verified my firewall settings.

Has anyone seen this error?

I have a sev1 case with RH but they cannot figure it out.

I also tried the IP of the SS on the command line from the boot iso. That did not help either.

If you do not use ipv6 addressing on your server, it is possible to disable it, then try building this software. However I could be horribly mistaken about this assumption.

The name of this software you are trying to build is still unclear though. Try adding more details and you may get additional replies.

I am trying to load the base Red Hat OS . I am trying to build a system. IPV6 is disabled bot for some reason it does not think so.
I tried a generic kickstart file and a custom one. Neither work with the same error. This also happens across multiple IP ranges and multiple sites.

Not sure what else you need. Ask me questions and I will provide more details.

Well it seems we have gotten a patch from RH that we are now required not only to put in the ip on the boot screen when asked but also we now need it n the KS file as well.

RH is researching the issue to see what patch could have caused this.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I don't have a lot of experience installing Redhat and not sure what a Kickstart file is. When all else fails though, read the documentation.

See my above post. This was not a manual thing but a patch that RH send down to us that changed the environment.
