Can Real Poweroff Computer without recompile kernel?
================================================
My RedHat Linux uses Kernel 2.4.20-8. When I use poweroff to shut down my computer, it works properly. But it couldn't REALLY POWER OFF like it works in WindowsXP. Someone told me to recompile the kernel. I have tried it 5 times but failed. Are there any solutions to solve this problem without recompile kernel?

Please Help me. Thanks!

This is a kernel issue; you need to check the APM and/or ACPI settings for powering off.

Maybe your mainboard can not support ACPI properly,
Try to update BIOS for your mb
good luck
