Angry Can't login remotely via new user created. Urgent help needed

Hi all:
We have a vendor supplied Redhat 3 server inhouse. I created a new user account (say ABC) for myself but was not able to log in remotely. However, if i use the vendor created useraccount ( say XYZ), I am able to login remotely. To further test this anomaly, I can su to ABC after loging in as XYZ. I tried deleting ABC and recreating it but still I can't login remotely. Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
L

I should have mentioned that I am trying to connect via ssh.
the error message that I get is
"Password Authentication with SSH server failed.
Please verify that the username and password are correct"

Needless to say, I have verified both. Also as mentioned, deleted and recreated the account but still it gives me the same error.

I just found out that the sshd_config file has the following entry
AllowUsers XYZ

So, can I just add user ABC to this. And what would the delimiter be; space or comma.

Also, just to make things clear, any user not listed in the the AllowUsers paramter won't be allowed to login remotely to ssh. Is this correct ?

Thanks for your tip
