can't install Red Hat 9

I recently installed a copy of Mandrake 9.1. The install went well and everything was fine. I am now taking a class about Red Hat 9.0 so I uninstalled the Mandrake and when I try to install RH9 in GUI mode the screen goes blank after it searches for new hardware and so on. It will let me install in text mode but when I reboot after the text install the screen goes blank when the GUI is supposed to show up. Please help. Thank You.

More info is needed.

I feel kind of rusted at this though I would advise you to add details like you hardware specs which will help people to help you out.
Also look at the hcl and be sure you hardware is inclusive
Best of luck

hardware specs

I have a nVidia gForce 5200, 160 GB western digital HD, AMD athlon 2500 Barton, msi motherboard...New system I don't see why it shouldn't be compatible. It gets to the screen where it says it's trying to start the X window system and then goes blank for good.

Check the error messages linked to the video card.Probably, xfree86 doesn't completely recognize the card (hsync or vsync out of range for example), due to version which needs to be updated.Normally, kudzu should have tell you. After all, you can use the text mode to check the log file.
