Can't find /etc/networks or DHCP

In my Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0, I can't find the /etc/networks file or any of the DHCP software (the client or server programs). Is support for these supposed to be included with the distribution, or must I add /etc/networks and download/install DHCP manually?

Thanks.

I have never run into a distro that did not supply a complete TPC/IP stack, including the dhcp client stuff.

That said, I don't have any experience with RHE 4.0, so it could be the exception, although I don't think so.

How have you tried to configure it?

I'm not familiar with any tools RH provides, been at least four years since I used RH. That would leave direct editing of config files; or installing WebMin and configuring through it. If you have never used Webmin, I would recommend you look at it. Great tool for maintaining systems.

You're right that it does have the DHCP client stuff, but not the server stuff. That I have to go download separately, but when I did that it resulted in an install that didn't let me start it using "service dhcpd start" - instead a simple "dhcpd" command.

What do others with Red Hat do when trying to use a DHCP server based on the many tutorials out there, which seems to imply that "service dhcpd start" is the standard way of doing it?
