boot from lvm without initrd

Installation is rh 5.2 using lvm. I'm able to boot using inintrd file
but without it get kernel panic not syncin vfs unable to mount root error.
I believe that I compiled the kernel with all the necessary optioins(not as modules)
so it's not a case of it not being able to undestand some filesystem. So my question is there
a way of booting from lvm without initrd file.

thanks

No.
Make /boot a non-LVM partition might be easiest way.
