Angry bash: passwd: command not found "HELP"


i created up a new user, and when i sets password on it, it replies:
bash: passwd: command not found ... what will i do?!

i'd guess you're either not root, or su'd to root incorrectly. when su-ing, either use "su -" to get a full login, or reference it directly, as it will be in /sbin/ not /bin, and /sbin isn't on non-root users paths.

i did it.. but it doesn't make any change... i can log on root properly... but nothing change..

Do you have the passwd program in /usr/bin/ and what does your /etc/pam.d/passwd file look like?

Why would passwd be in /sbin/? I know I'm not using redhat, but on every system I've used, passwd is in /bin, which should be in EVERY user's path.
