Backup question

I want to upgrade RH9 to Fedora Core 2 now that it available. I assume(sadly),that I will be unable to simply upgrade and therefore must reinstall with the 2.6 kernel (tell me if I'm wrong here). If that's the case, what do I need to backup to maintain my evolution email and browser bookmarks, etc. ? I am a relative newbie and use the machine for internet and basic office work. I will be using BackupSw for the task (GUI based backup tool).

In the same boat.

I'm in the exact same boat. Is BackupSw the best app for back up purposes.

Is there a way to leave a portion of the disk intact, sorta like reinstalling Windows onto a C: partion while data on a D: partion is safe? Sorry for the basic questions, I'm pretty much a newbie.

Thanks
