Hello,

On what level do you want to perform a backup? Personal (from one computer to for example an external disk), professional level (multiple computers / servers connecting to a centralized backup server with tape / disk / ...), or something in between? You could have a look at Amanda, Zmanda, Bacula and many others for an enterprise level solution. On a personal level you can use tools like rsync, BackupPC, ... Look at Google for more available solutions.

Kind regards,

Eric

Hi,

There's a lot of documentation on the subject. You can start by reading the man page and figure it out or you can use one of the many guides available on the internet, for example this one gives you several examples on how to use rsync.

Kind regards,

Eric

rdiff-backup

While rsync is a good option, to keep more than one days backup
requires a bit of coding.

rdiff-backup uses rsync and lets you keep multi-day
backups without using much disk space.

Hope this helps
