RedHat comes with up2date which will update everything redhat related. You can get redcarpet which will update everything gnome related. Or you can get something like apt-get which I believe updates everything. I recommend that if you are using redhat that you look in your cd's first for programs, then elsewhere.

Red Carpet does more than just Gnome stuff. It can apply basically all updates from RedHat for version 9 for instance if you subscribe it to that channel. I like it.

So far, apt-get seems to work better than Up2Date for several reasons, the main of which is APT is used in other distros so once you learn it for RH you wont have much trouble using it in other distros. Up2Date is a little buggy sometimes also and seems to be more complicated than apt.Of course this is probably just because apt is command line and Up2Date is GUI.
