appropriate command for "nmap" in RedHat- EL4

Sir/Madam,
We are very new to linux. In earlier version of RedHatlinux there was a command "nmap"- scanning the port open in a pc, which is not working in RedHat EL-4.
We are prepering ourselves for RHCE Examination. Please let us know the adjacent command and the options.
We will be very much gratefull.
Thanking you,
Subhasis & Somnath.

Nmap is stil widely used and it is not deprecated in any way. I guess that it is not installed on your current operating system (as it is not really neccesary for most users). You can easily install this though from www.insecure.org or by getting it from a repository from your distribution.

Good luck,

if you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Greets, Target
