Latest amarok I was able to compile/use on CentOS 5.x is 1.4 from EPEL repository. All others fail because of dependency issues if I recall correctly.

Amarok 2.3 is a KDE 4.x application.

If you do a little Googling, you will probably find,
that nobody made any KDE 4 for CentOS.

Amarok 2.x : The upcoming CentOS 6 will have it in the
EPEL repo, I guess.
