ALSA installation on RHE3 WS

I'm kind of new to this. I need to install ALSA on a red hat enterprise version 3 distribution. I have a 2.4.21-4.EL kernel. I'm not sure which version of ALSA I should use? Also, the last time i tried to install ALSA, the kernel patch messed with my PCMCIA settings effectively killing my wireless card Cisco Aironet 350 (it wouldn't let me reinstall the necessary drivers).

Can anyone give me some suggestions? Thank you.
